I attended a golf seminar. Steve Cornetta. He video taped our swings. Everyone did exactly what he said they would do. On the downswing the right elbow hits the front of the right hip, and several things happen. If the club face is lined up with the path, then a magical event happens, the 5 iron travels 200 yards to the left of the target line. Then golfers spend the next 5 years trying to recreate that shot. When in fact it was due too poor mechanics that happen to align with the stars. More often than not the clubface closes, or stays open creating odd shot patterns.
Is there a way to use BGST concepts to prevent this incorrect action from happening. He has video taped over 10,000 golfers. I asked how many golfers in his teaching history did someone swing correctly. He said 4.
Obviously, this right elbow getting jammed is preventing 99.8 percent of the golfers from getting better and too start to really enjoy the game. Everyone wants to play better. After I saw my swing, and I was confident I was not making the same mistake as 99.8 percent of my fellow golfers. Sure enough, I was part of the majority of the golfing world. If BGST can fix the problem, then we have solved the Golfing world's problem. |

Alan,
Apologize for a delayed answer to your post.
I don't know if I understand the issue well, but if I do it touches the phenomenon of having a pitch elbow movement at the beginning resulting with a punch elbow position at impact, similar to the post-accident Ben Hogan:

The answer I have found is protraction & depression of both scapulae (that makes it easy to reach the 1st phase of the pitch). As regards the second part I'd say it is thanks to the SPC concept principles during the downswing phase, i.e. from the ground up & core out. One should here pay a special attention to the lead side serratus muscle (because lead side is dominant during the downswing) that stabilizes the girdle in relation to the torso.
It can be a real Hogan's secret. |
