It is a very important subject. I have received a PM from Carl where he writes:

This is where I probably get it all wrong. What I do is to initiate the backswing with my lead elbow getting "inside" my body, from what I read in part 2 the "Lastly, the desirable takeaway effect of the Bio-K Grip, namely, the rear elbow socket up during the takeaway - first, the BGST author statically...:" so, without me knowing, I did not keep my left side totally passive. How exactly does the take away starts, is it by rising the right elbow? I am not sure i quite understand?

My answer was as follows:
Carl,
If you're familiar with the trigger compression phase aimed at creating momentum you'll easily can feel that the backswing starts by converting the gained inertia by the rear side of the body pulling. It means that we talk about the lagging clubhead takeaway (LCT) which means that the body drags arms and they drag the club. Hands and arms do nothing active and conscious, ideally.

I still haven't got it. if I pull my rear body too hard to initiate the backswing then I get too much into my left side and my left shoulder sway and pull instead of turning around my neck, i loose my tempo. What is the rear hand trajectory, if it a horizontal flap from rear to front or a lasso movement or a vertical scoop motion. Do you throw the club from the rear elbow joint, I am lost. |

Carl,
I apologize for a delayed answer and I am sorry that I cannot respond to this great topic wider now but I am at my vacation till the half-July.
Without seeing your swing I am pretty sure you overdoze active rear side; the rear side should BENEFIT FROM GAINED INERTIA, when we rock on the swing by trigger compressing it onto the firm lead side. Imagine what you do when you want to push or pull a heavy object - you first push/pull it IN AN OPPOSITE DIRECTION so that the momentum you create can be used in a proper direction.
